Turkish Labor Unions (Türk-İş) and Turkish Red Crescent delivered food aid to 1,000 Turkmen families who took refuge in Turkey escaping Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) threat in Iraq.
The aid was sent to Turkmen families after a brief ceremony with the attendance of Turkish Red Crescent President Ahmet Lütfi Akar and Türk-İş Head Ergün Atalay.
Turkish Red Crescent President Ahmet Lütfi Akar spoke about commence of the campaign and stated that this aid is significant but not sufficient unless government backs it.
“The campaign was organized by Red Crescent and was financed by Türk-İş. Incollaboration with my close friend, Head of Türk-İş Ergun Atalay we decided to extend our help hand to our Turkmen brothers and sisters to relief them to some extent.” Akar added.
