At least 10 people were killed in a fireworks factory explosion Monday in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, local media reported.
The accident took place in a building in Vakatippa village in the coastal district,about 160 km from the port city of Visakhapatnam. Firecrackers were being manufactured illegally in the building, police said.
Huge flames engulfed the premises. Two fire engines reached the spot to douse the flames. Rescue workers were seen shifting the injured to nearby hospitals.
Officials said the toll may go up as at least 20 people were working in the unit at the time of the blast. (Cihan/Xinhua)
