13 Yemenis Killed İn Saturday Strikes: Ministry

Saudi-led airstrikes in different parts of Yemen on Saturday killed 13 people and injured 69 others, the Yemeni Interior Ministry said Sunday.



The ministry, which is controlled by Yemen's Shiite Houthi group, added that the victims fell in different provinces, including capital Sanaa and the northern province of Saada.



It said the strikes mainly targeted military sites and infrastructure in the aforementioned provinces.



The ministry noted that in Sanaa, a man was killed and 24 others injured because of the strikes, adding that the victims included civilians too.



A woman, the Interior Ministry said, and a ten-year-old girl were injured in Saada, the stronghold of the Shiite Houthi group.



Several Arab states have joined a Saudi-led military offensive which kicked off late Wednesday with a string of airstrikes against the positions of the Houthi group in Yemen, including some in capital Sanaa.



Saudi Arabia said the strikes were in response to calls by embattled President ABD Rabbuh Mansour Hadi for military intervention to "save the people from the Houthi militias."



Several Gulf countries accuse Shiite Iran of supporting the Houthi insurgency.
