Some 170 illegal refugees, one of them a woman nine months pregnant, were saved by the Turkey Aegean Coast Guard on Wednesday while trying to escape Greece, authorities said.
The boat of 170 refugees from Afghanistan and Syria, trying to escape Greece illegally, was stopped by the Turkey Aegean Coast Guard in the Aegean Sea near the Turkish city of Seferhisar, authorities said.
Three Turkish citizens were taken into custody on suspicion of human trafficking, authorities said.
An unidentified woman who was nine months pregnant was taken to Seferihisar Nejat Hepkon Public Hospital after her labor pains started. Her condition reported to be fine.
The refugees were taken to the Izmir Police Department Foreign Section.
