Two Yemenis were injured Monday in a strike, believed to be launched by a US drone, in the central Yemeni province of al-Bayda, tribal sources said.
The strike targeted a vehicle thought to be carrying militants affiliated to the branch of al-Qaeda organization in Yemen, the sources added.
The missile, however, missed the vehicle and injured two civilians who happened to be near the car, the sources said.
This is the second suspected US drone strike in Yemen since the beginning of the year.
A strike in the southern province of Abyan last Wednesday killed two people and injured three others, according to Yemeni security sources.
Anadolu Agency could not get an immediate comment from Yemeni officials on the alleged incident.
Al-Qaeda militants are active in Yemen's southern provinces. Last year, Abyan was the site of intense fighting between al-Qaeda militants and the Yemeni army.
Yemeni security men and local vigilantes aiding them are the target of repeated attacks from al-Qaeda militants.
