At least five Egyptian soldiers were injured when their armored vehicle was hit by a roadside explosive charge in the northern Sinai Peninsula, local media has reported.
The bombing hit the vehicle as it passed by Arish city in the North Sinai province, leaving five troops wounded, the state-run MENA news agency said, "ing unnamed security and medical sources.
The explosion comes one week after an attack on a military site in North Sinai left 31 Egyptian troops dead and 30 injured.
Last week's attack led to three days of mourning in Egypt, while the authorities began evacuating the border area with the Gaza Strip amid Egyptian media reports that the attackers had crossed into Sinai from the strip via cross-border tunnels.
Palestinian faction Hamas, for its part, which has governed the Gaza Strip since 2007, said it had found no evidence of involvement in the Sinai attack by anyone in Gaza.
