6 Houthis Killed İn Clashes İn Yemen's Ad Dali'

26.04.2015 21:03

Six members of the Shiite Houthi group were killed on Sunday during clashes with militants loyal to embattled Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi in the southern city of Ad Dali'.

Six members of the Shiite Houthi group were killed on Sunday during clashes with militants loyal to embattled Yemeni President ABD Rabbuh Mansour Hadi in the southern city of Ad Dali'.

The pro-Hadi militants staged an attack on a Houthi checkpoint in the city, one of the militants said.

He told The Anadolu Agency that the attack left six Houthis dead.

The source did not reveal, however, whether there have been any casualties among the pro-Hadi militants.

He, meanwhile, noted that clashes erupted earlier on Sunday between the Houthis and pro-Hadi militants in other parts of the city.

He said the militants destroyed a Houthi vehicle during the clashes.

AA could not immediately obtain comments from the Houthi group on the claims of the source.

Late last month, Saudi Arabia and several other Arab states began striking – from air – Houthi positions across Yemen.

Saudi Arabia says the strikes come in response to appeals by Hadi – currently in Riyadh- for help against the Houthis, who overran capital Sanaa late last year and advanced on other provinces.

Yemen has remained in turmoil since 2011 when a popular uprising forced ex-President Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down a year later.
