The U.S. Special Representative for Syria, Tom Barrack, shared details of the $4 billion agreement signed for the rehabilitation of Damascus International Airport and the construction of new facilities. Barrack noted that the consortium includes the Kalyon and Cengiz groups from Turkey and UCC from Qatar.

The U.S. Special Representative for Syria and Ambassador to Ankara, Tom Barrack, stated that the consortium established for the rehabilitation of Damascus International Airport and the construction of new facilities includes UCC from Qatar and the Cengiz and Kalyon groups from Turkey, expressing that the country's path to peace and prosperity will be shaped together with regional partners.

AGREEMENT BETWEEN TURKEY AND SYRIA ON "DAMASCUS AIRPORT"

After attending the signing ceremony in Damascus, Barrack shared a post on his X social media account. The U.S. Special Representative for Syria, Barrack, stated, "The future of a prosperous and peaceful Syria lies in the hands of regional partners such as Qatar's UCC, which won the build-operate-transfer project for Syria and the new Damascus International Airport, and Turkey's Cengiz and Kalyon groups."

VALUE OF THE AGREEMENT IS 4 BILLION DOLLARS

Barrack, expressing his happiness to participate in the signing ceremony in Damascus today with the lifting of U.S. sanctions on Syria, stated, "The road to recovery must begin with the establishment of a foundation of security and stability, followed by government systems, and finally, initiatives and prosperity."

A strategic cooperation agreement worth 4 billion dollars was signed between the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority and Kalyon Construction, Cengiz Construction, TAV Construction from Turkey, UCC from Qatar, and Assets Investments from the U.S., with the participation of Syrian President Ahmed Shara.

Within the scope of the agreement, the rehabilitation of the facilities of Damascus International Airport will be carried out by the consortium, including Kalyon Construction and Cengiz Construction, and new facilities will be constructed simultaneously. With a phased capacity increase to be carried out in a total of 4 phases, the airport's annual passenger capacity will be increased to 31 million within 8 years.

In May of last year, a strategic cooperation agreement worth 7 billion dollars was also signed between the Syrian Ministry of Energy and Kalyon Holding and Cengiz Holding from Turkey, UCC from Qatar, and Power International from the U.S.
