Due to the measures taken for the Ramadan Bayram holiday in Ankara and Kocaeli, a series of precautions have been implemented from tomorrow until Sunday. In Kocaeli, trucks, tractors, and tankers will not be allowed to pass on the TEM and North Marmara highways. In Ankara, there will be similar restrictions on the D200 highway between Ankara and Sivrihisar towards Izmir.

The Kocaeli Governorship has made new decisions to prevent possible accidents and traffic congestion during the holiday period. In a statement made by the governorship, it was reported that from 4:00 PM on March 28, Friday, until 1:00 AM on March 30, Sunday, the entry of trucks, tractors, and tankers onto the TEM Highway and the Northern Marmara Highway is prohibited.



"EXCEPTIONS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED FOR THEIR PASSAGE"



The statement emphasized that exceptions may be allowed in exceptional circumstances, stating, "Perishable foods such as fresh vegetables/fruits, live animals, meat and meat products, milk and dairy products, frozen foods, live and cut flowers, medicines, medical supplies, mail/periodicals, animal feed, and trucks, tractors, and tankers carrying fuel will be allowed to pass through routes other than the main arteries, and if necessary, they will be allowed to be on the main arteries for the shortest time possible."



INSPECTIONS WILL BE INCREASED



The statement continued that the Provincial Police Department and the Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams will increase traffic inspections, especially at high-risk accident points:



"The Provincial Police Department and the Provincial Gendarmerie Command will focus on inspections in public entertainment and rest places in their areas of responsibility, increase patrol services, and continue traffic controls in accordance with existing circulars and related orders. Necessary measures will be taken to ensure the regular flow of traffic. The number of teams will be increased on highways, D-100, and D-130 roads before and during the return of the holiday, and teams will be stationed at risky points. Traffic teams will be assigned to high-risk accident points on the TEM, Northern Marmara Highways, and other state roads between İzmit-Kandıra (including Kefken-Kerpe) from March 26 to April 6, in the direction of Istanbul-Ankara and Ankara-Istanbul."



"FIRING WEAPONS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED"



The statement indicated that firing weapons will definitely not be allowed during the holiday; it was noted that official and civilian police teams will be on duty to prevent incidents such as theft, pickpocketing, and robbery. It was also emphasized that municipalities will focus on workplace inspections to ensure uninterrupted infrastructure services.



In the statement, it was also expressed that emergency services, hospitals, and health units will reinforce their personnel to provide uninterrupted service during the holiday, and it was noted that all necessary measures will be taken by the relevant institutions to keep the roads open in Kocaeli and to ensure uninterrupted electricity, water, and natural gas services.

The Ankara Governorship announced, "From 4:00 PM on March 28, 2025, Friday, until 1:00 AM on March 30, 2025, Sunday; vehicles of truck, tractor, and tanker types will not be allowed to pass through the D200 highway between our city and İzmir, including the intermediate entries."
