A fire broke out in a furniture workshop located in the Zeytinlik neighborhood of the Kepez district in Antalya. Residents who noticed the smoke rising from the workshop reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the notification, teams from the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department and security forces were dispatched to the scene.
THE WALL COLLAPSED, FIREFIGHTERS WERE SAVED AT THE LAST MOMENT
The fire crews, who quickly intervened, evacuated citizens from the area as a safety measure. During the intervention, the back wall of the workshop suddenly collapsed. The teams noticed the collapse and quickly moved away from the area. No injuries were reported in the incident.
THE FLAMES WERE CONTROLLED BEFORE SPREADING TO ADJACENT SHOPS
While all devices in the workshop where the fire broke out were completely burned, intense efforts were made to prevent the flames from spreading to the adjacent aluminum joinery shop and the two-story house on the right. Thanks to the rapid intervention of the teams, the fire was brought under control and prevented from spreading to nearby structures.
"ONLY ONE WALL REMAINS, IF THAT COLLAPSES, THE SITUATION WILL BE GRAVE"
Mehmet Yörükhan, who runs an aluminum joinery business right next to the workshop where the fire broke out, said, "The burning shop belongs to my cousin. They were doing furniture and upholstery work next door. As the smoke filled the interior, they immediately threw themselves outside. If the fire had spread to our side, it would have been impossible to extinguish it. We would have had to sit and just watch it burn. Right now, we have no loss of life or property, which is our consolation. But there is only one wall left between us and the burning place. If that collapses, the situation will really be grave. I hope it is extinguished as soon as possible."
While the teams carried out cooling work at the scene, an investigation was initiated regarding the cause of the fire.
