An official from the U.S. Department of Defense, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that Iran seized a Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker passing through the Strait of Hormuz and directed the ship towards Iranian territorial waters.
IRAN SEIZED THE OIL TANKER
The official also expressed that Iran stopped the vessel named Talara while it was traveling from the United Arab Emirates to Singapore.
THE BRITISH CONFIRMED
According to flight tracking data analyzed by the Associated Press (AP), a U.S. Navy MQ-4C Triton unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was observed circling over the area where Talara was located.
The British Army's United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Center confirmed the incident in a separate statement, noting that a possible "state activity" forced Talara to enter Iranian territorial waters.
