On the field belonging to Hüsamettin Büyükpınar in the village of Dereköy, which has 10 households and is part of the Yıldızeli district, a sinkhole formed the day before yesterday. The sinkhole, which formed about 600 meters away from the village, has unsettled the villagers.
A SIMILAR COLLAPSE OCCURRED 20 YEARS AGO
Upon the notification of the village headman Necati Gökkaya, teams from AFAD, Gendarmerie, and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change arrived in the area to conduct an investigation. During the investigation, it was determined that the sinkhole in the field has a diameter of 7 meters and a depth of 8 meters. It was learned that a similar collapse occurred in the same area about 20 years ago.
OATS WERE PLANTED 10 DAYS AGO
The village headman Necati Gökkaya stated, "It formed 2 days ago during the night. My father and a neighbor saw it and informed me. I also notified the necessary authorities. Our Gendarmerie and AFAD team came and conducted an investigation. The depth was measured at 8 meters, and the diameter was measured at 7 meters. This is a field. Oats were planted here about 10 days ago.
About 20 years ago, there was a small subsidence in the same area. Currently, the necessary authorities have come and stated that they will carry out filling work here. There is also a puddle at the bottom of the sinkhole, and we do not know for sure if there is a water source underneath," he said.
