The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, signed a decree for the pardon of 615 prisoners on the occasion of the Constitution Day on December 8. As part of the pardon, 343 convicts will be released, while the sentences of 272 individuals will be reduced or their terms shortened.
On December 8, an amnesty was announced benefiting 615 prisoners in Uzbekistan due to the Constitution Day. According to a statement from the Press Office of the President of Uzbekistan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree for the pardon of "prisoners who regret their crimes and are on the path to rehabilitation" on the 33rd anniversary of the adoption of the constitution.
615 PRISONERS WILL BENEFIT
According to the decree, within the framework of the amnesty benefiting 615 prisoners, 343 convicts will be released, including 123 conditionally, while the sentences of 272 individuals will be reduced or their prison terms shortened.
Among the pardoned convicts are 9 members of organizations, 23 individuals over the age of 60, 29 women, and 9 foreign nationals.
Relevant ministries and state institutions have been assigned to help the prisoners covered by the amnesty reintegrate into society.
