New developments have emerged in the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes," "usury," and "money laundering of assets derived from crime." As part of the investigation, the shares of the suspect Şaban Kayıkçı in Bodrum Hotel Enterprises Inc. and the hotel named The Plaza Bodrum in Bodrum have been seized.
CLAIM OF "JOURNALISTS STAYING" ON THE AGENDA
While the repercussions of the investigation continue, claims have emerged that some journalists have also stayed at the mentioned hotels. These claims have resonated widely within the press community.
"WE WANT CLEAN MEDIA"
Sinan Burhan, the President of the Turkish Press Federation, made a striking call in a statement regarding the issue. Burhan, who said, "We want clean media," emphasized that "It should be clearly revealed who stayed at Sezgin Baran Korkmaz's hotel and who benefited from it. The profession of journalism cannot be tarnished. Real journalists are not afraid of accountability; hidden relationships poison both the press and society."
PRESS CONNECTIONS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED
Burhan's statement has brought ethical discussions in the media back to the forefront, raising the question of whether the press connections of the investigation will be examined.
