The Deputy Minister of Trade, Mahmut Gürcan, announced via his social media account that an investigation and action have been initiated by the Çorum Provincial Directorate of Trade regarding the incident where a market vendor named Z.R. dumped tomatoes into the trash instead of selling them to citizens at a more reasonable price.
PREVENTING MARKET BALANCE
As a result of the investigation, this action was evaluated as an activity aimed at creating scarcity in the market, disrupting market balance and free competition, and preventing consumers from accessing goods.
PENALTIES OF UP TO 17.2 MILLION TL WILL BE IMPOSED
Gürcan stated that separate investigations have been initiated against Z.R. and the actual owner of the goods, a market vendor with the title 'Z...', and that penalties ranging from 1.4 million TL to 17.2 million TL will be imposed on both.
In the statement, Gürcan also shared information that the Çorum Municipality will take action against the relevant individuals due to illegal and unauthorized destruction, saying, "As the Ministry of Trade, our fight against malicious individuals who disturb the peace of our citizens and do not comply with trade ethics will continue resolutely on a 365 days, 24 hours basis."
