Istanbul’s creative scene will be dominated by contemporary art attractions this week.

- ArtInternational to gather art-lovers 



A contemporary art fair, ArtInternational will be held between Sept. 4 and 6 in Istanbul and will feature works from world-renowned artists.



The third edition of the fair will gather pieces by pop-art icon Andy Warhol, British contemporary artist Grayson Perry, English graffiti artist Banksy, Catalan's Joan Miro, and Belgian artist Jan Fabre.



The fair, which will host 83 galleries from 24 countries, takes place at Halic Congress Center on the banks of Istanbul's Golden Horn.



 



Istanbul Biennial offers modern art exhibitions   



Another important cultural activity in the city is the 14th Istanbul Biennial which will showcase more than 1,500 artworks from over 80 participants in a citywide exhibition free of charge between Sep. 5 and Nov. 1.



Titled Saltwater: A Theory of Thought Forms, it is organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV). 



It will be held in four locations such as Istanbul Modern, the Arter contemporary arts center, the Galata Greek High School and the Italian High School -- as well as in various boats, hotels, former banks, gardens, schools, shops and private houses.



 



German post-war art in Istanbul museum



Istanbul Sakip Sabanci Museum's exhibition based on German post-war art movement Zero, which arose in the wake of the Second World War, opened on Wednesday and will run until Jan.10.



The exhibition assembles hundreds of works of art, boasting various materials and techniques, by the main founders of the movement, German artists Heinz Mack, Otto Piene and Gunther Uecker as well as other artists.



 



Istanbul museum hosts Bosnian artists' exhibition 



Istanbul's Pera Museum will host an exhibition by young artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina.



"Images of Our Time" will be open between Sep. 4 and Nov. 1 and co-organized with the Sarajevo Academy of Fine Arts, the museum said on its website.



"This exhibition brings together works in various media created by undergraduate and graduate students, as well as graduates of the six faculties of the academy, including paintings, sculptures, prints, and graphic and product design," the museum added.



 



-Carnaval Latino to gather dance lovers



Latin music lovers will come together at Istanbul's Life Park on Sept. 6 for Carnaval Latino.



This year festival's highlight is Latin American salsa music group Mercadonegro Orchestra, which released their debut album Bailalo in 2002.



Moreover, Turkish musician Ayhan Sicimoglu and Latin All Stars will take the stage at the carnival.



Music lovers will also have the chance to see a performance by Istanbul dance schools during the event, according to the official website of the festival.

-American animated comedy to hit Turkish theaters



Universal Pictures' Minions, a spin-off from 2010's 3D computer-animated comedy film Despicable Me, will hit Turkish theaters on Friday.



Directed by Frenchman Pierre Coffin and the American Kyle Balda, Minions boasts such stars as Sandra Bullock and Jon Hamm. The Turkish version was dubbed by Turkish actress Beren Saat and singer Kenan Dogulu.



The movie tells the story of three minions Stuart, Kevin and Bob's hired by super-villain Scarlett Overkill who plans to take over the world, according to film critics website imdb.com.
