At least two people were killed and 21 others injured when a weapon's stockpile exploded on Tuesday in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province, local authorities said.
According to provincial deputy police chief Rahmatullah Atrafi at least two civilians were killed when piled weapons and ammunition at a checkpoint exploded in Kandahar city on Tuesday morning.
"It was not terrorist related activity. At least two civilians were killed and several others were injured," Atrafi told Anadolu Agency.
He did not give details of military casualties but said an investigation had begun.
"We have received two bodies and 21 wounded people," a doctor at a provincial hospital told AA, on condition of anonymity.
He said at least eight of the injured were policemen and officers.
