AK Party Member of Parliament Tuba Durgut reacted to the Israeli delegation at the General Assembly of the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly. Durgut's statement, "The lives of Gazans are as valuable as all lives. This is no longer a political issue; it is a humanitarian issue," made a significant impact on the meeting.

The Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly (MED-PA) 19th General Assembly was held in Rome, Italy, from February 19 to 22, 2025.

The meeting was marked by a strong response from Tuba Durgut, Member of the Turkish delegation of MED-PA, Vice President of the Women Parliamentarians Forum, and AK Party Istanbul Deputy, against Israel's accusatory and manipulative approach.

ISRAELI DELEGATION ACCUSED TURKEY OF HYPOCRISY

During the Political and Security Cooperation Committee Meeting within the General Assembly, the Israeli delegation displayed photos of a baby who died during the attacks on Gaza and was handed over to Israel as part of a hostage exchange, accusing Turkey and some other delegations of not supporting Israel and of hypocrisy. In response to an Israeli female parliamentarian accusing Turkey of hypocrisy, Tuba Durgut reacted strongly.

THEY WERE ASTONISHED BY WHAT HAPPENED

Durgut reminded everyone of the children who were killed, disabled, and starved in Gaza, stating that Israel created a one-sided narrative of victimhood.

Durgut said, "What about the children who were amputated in Gaza? What about the women in Gaza? What about the children suffering from hunger in Gaza? Are Gazans not human? We are sad for all children; the lives of Gazans are as valuable as all lives. This is no longer a political issue; it is a humanitarian issue, so please show respect."
