In a fire that broke out in the Serik district of Antalya, Ahmet Özkan lost both his home and 80,000 lira that he had kept in the house. His money was replaced with new bills by the Central Bank. WHILE CHANGING THE GAS CYLINDER...
A fire broke out in the single-story stone house belonging to Ahmet Özkan in Karataş Neighborhood on June 5 in the morning. The fire, which was determined to have started while Özkan was checking whether the gas cylinder was leaking with a lighter after changing it, was noticed by neighborhood residents who saw smoke rising from the house, and they reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the notification, fire crews from the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and gendarmerie were dispatched to the scene.
BOTH THE BELONGINGS AND THE MONEY BURNED
Teams that reached the scene in a short time intervened in the fire and tried to control the flames. The fire was extinguished after about an hour of intense efforts by the fire crews.
In the fire, along with the belongings in the house, 80 thousand lira in cash that the homeowner Ahmet Özkan had saved for many years and kept in the house also burned. There were no casualties or injuries in the fire.
CENTRAL BANK REPLACED THE MONEY
After the incident, Karataş Neighborhood Muhtar Sadi Kahya took action and contacted the Central Bank to facilitate the replacement of the burned money through the communication commission. Ahmet Özkan, who regained his burned 80 thousand lira, experienced great happiness, while muhtar Sadi Kahya shared a photo of the moment he handed over the money with the message, "My name is muhtar, my surname is service, we replaced our burned money through the Central Bank Communication Commission, good luck. Wishing that such situations do not happen again, once again, get well soon."
