Ambassadors Of Three EU Countries Visit Diyarbakır

Ankara ambassadors of three European Union member countries arrived in Turkish southeastern province of Diyarbakır on Friday at the invitation of Association of Southeastern Young Businessmen (GÜNGİAD).

Finnish Ambassador Nina Vaskunlahti, Luxembourgian Ambassador Arlette Conzemius and Irish Ambassador Kenneth Thompson held several meetings in one of Turkey's Kurdish-dominated cities of Diyarbakır amid settlement process discussions.

In his speech at the event GÜNGİAD President Hakan Akbal reminded that aiming to contribute Kurdish settlement process, their association shared suggestions with the public about "Controlled Autonomy" plan. "We have given our letter of invitation to Finland's Ambassador to be delivered to former Finnish President and UN Special Representative Martti Ahtisaari who was the source of inspiration for our suggestions" Akbal added.

In their turns, ambassadors described their purpose of visit to the eastern Turkey as desiring to see the developments in the region on the site. EU Ambassadors visited Diyarbakır University, Municipality and Governorship buildings also during the visit.
