A worker at a furniture factory in the Elmadağ district of Ankara claimed that he was assaulted by his boss and the boss's son after he told the SSK teams that he was working without insurance while hiding in the boiler room.
Osman Ceylan, who works at a furniture factory in the Hasanoğlan neighborhood of Elmadağ district in Ankara, was assaulted yesterday by the owner of the furniture factory and his son.
THEY WERE CAUGHT HIDING IN THE BOILER ROOM
Ceylan, who has been working at the factory for about three and a half years, stated that there were people from the Social Security Institution (SSI) who came to inspect the factory yesterday. Ceylan claimed that before the inspection, the owner hid uninsured workers in the boiler room, and despite having to hide, they were still caught by the SSI teams. Ceylan mentioned that when the SSI teams asked if they were insured, he said he had been working uninsured for 13-14 months, after which the SSI teams imposed a penalty on the furniture factory.
THEY ASSAULTED AS SOON AS THE TEAMS LEFT
Ceylan, who claimed he was assaulted and held captive by the owner B.I. and his son M.I. after the teams left the factory, stated that he went to the hospital afterward and expressed that he would file a complaint against the owner and his son, taking the matter to court.
"WHEN SSI CAME BEFORE, THEY HID US IN THE BOILER ROOM"
Ceylan, who claimed that when the SSI teams came to the factory, they were taken to the boiler room by their employers, said, "I have been working at a furniture factory in Hasanoğlan for three and a half years. Yesterday, friends from SSI came to inspect the factory. When they came before, they hid us in the boiler room. Previously, they used to hide us in secret places, but this time they caught us. They took our IDs and asked if we were insured. We stated that we were not insured. Other colleagues, out of fear, said, 'Our insurance started today.' I said, 'I have been working uninsured for 13-14 months since I retired.' Upon hearing this, they imposed a fine on the factory," he said.
"HE IMMEDIATELY STARTED BEATING ME"
Ceylan, who claimed that as soon as the SSI teams left the factory, he was immediately called to the office by the owner and his son, said, "The owner and his son called me to the office around 5. Normally, he is not the legal owner of the factory. He has put the factory in someone else's name. He said to me, 'Why did you complain about me? You were eating bread here.' I said, 'I didn't complain, I just told what happened.' Then he immediately started beating me. His son also assaulted me. They locked me in the room, restricted my freedom. They stood in front of the door to prevent me from escaping. Later, a few friends came and rescued me. Even in that condition, the owner reached for his waist and said, 'Let me kill this one.' After the incident, my brother took me to Elmadağ State Hospital. The police took statements. If inspections are safe, people will be more satisfied. Even though I told the truth, I am in the hospital. Part of my eye cannot see. I have injuries in my ear, feet, and skull. I have suffered material and moral damage," he said.
