Anadolu Agency Publishes "The Orphaned Nation: Syria"

30.09.2014 12:01

The book on Syria follows "The Incomplete Revolution: Egypt" and "War, Blockade, Resistance: Gaza"

Anadolu Agency published the third book in the "AA was there" series: "The Orphaned Nation: Syria", detailing the more than three-year long war in Syria.

In last two months, The Agency published "The Incomplete Revolution: Egypt", and "War, Blockade, Resistance: Gaza". In the near future, the readers will find the three books in English and Arabic as well as Turkish.

Anadolu Agency Director General and Board Chairman Kemal Ozturk, who is also the chief editor of the book series, said that some 30 reporters and correspondents worked to create the book that will also go into the archive with their special editions.

"The Orphaned Nation: Syria" begins with the political history of Syria, starting with the armed opposition process, the hunger, deaths and sorrow that the more than three-year long war brought.

In the "AA was there" series the readers can go through the direct experiences of reporters and correspondents in the field, who witnessed the beginning of an uprising in early 2011 and many other tragedies including the chemical weapon attacks.

The book is also filled with many of Anadolu Agency exclusive photos to help the readers visualize the incidents.

"Egypt, Gaza and Syria are only three regions of this geographical area (Middle East) that are full of pain," Ozturk said.

The Syrian uprising is the bloodiest of Arap Spring uprisings (Tunisia, Egypt, Libia, Yemen, etc.) with more than 190,000 killed, according to the latest figures published in August by the UN.
