The artist Yavuz Bingöl made a statement from the hospital where DEM Party Istanbul MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder, who suffered a heart attack, was taken. Bingöl, with a tearful voice, drew attention by saying, "I know he has gone for chemotherapy a few times. We knew he had cancer, but he wasn't explaining what his condition was or what level it was at."
DEM Party Istanbul Deputy and Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, suffered a heart attack. It was announced that Önder, who was taken to the hospital, underwent surgery and his condition is serious.
YAVUZ BİNGÖL: WE KNEW HE HAD CANCER
A large number of artists and politicians went to the hospital where Önder was taken. Yavuz Bingöl, an artist and close friend of Önder, did not leave his side.
Speaking to CNN Türk, Bingöl said they knew Önder was a cancer patient. "Everyone should pray, his condition is a bit critical," Bingöl said, using the following expressions: "He is currently in surgery. We are waiting. When I learned, I called his daughter. I found out she was here, so I came immediately. Apparently, his heart had stopped in the hospital, but he came back here. We talked via video call the day before yesterday, we sang folk songs. Interesting life. He is a very colorful, cheerful person. They say his condition is critical. Everyone should pray. He has contributed greatly to the peace process for years. I hope he regains his health soon.
Nearly 30 years of friendship. We had some knowledge, but he wouldn't give away secrets. I know he went for chemotherapy a few times. We call each other at least once or twice a week to talk via video. He never told us how serious his illness was. Bingöl also stated, "He is a good writer, a good director. He makes everyone laugh. He has an incredible repertoire of folk songs. Oktay, Olgun, and I are very close. We gather and sing folk songs for hours. We were supposed to meet this week, but such an unfortunate thing happened," while his tearful voice also drew attention.
