A 21-year-old man shot a 44-year-old man in the head with a gun at a café in Izmir. The injured man died in the hospital despite all the doctors' efforts. The suspect turned himself in at the police station.

On April 13, Sunday, around 19:30, a horror occurred in the 628th Street of the First Kadriye Neighborhood in the Konak district of İzmir. Ali A. (21) came to the café where Şeyhmus Akın (44) was sitting.

Ali A. shot Akın in the head with a gun he took out from his waist, injuring him. While the suspect fled the scene, bystanders reported the situation to health and police teams. Health officials dispatched to the address with the notification took Şeyhmus Akın to the Health Sciences University (SBÜ) Bozyaka Training and Research Hospital by ambulance. It was learned that Akın, who was receiving treatment in the hospital, passed away yesterday morning. After the prosecutor's examination, Akın's body was sent to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institution's morgue. Following the autopsy, it was learned that Akın's body was sent to his hometown, Mardin.

Meanwhile, it was learned that the suspect Ali A. also surrendered the weapon to the Eşrefpaşa Şehit Metin Davaslıoğlu Police Station. It was revealed in Ali A.'s statement at the police station that he shot Şeyhmus Akın due to an "honor issue." It was stated that Ali A., whose procedures are ongoing at the Homicide Bureau of the Public Order Branch, will be referred to the courthouse.
