Azerbaijani TPP Produces Over 2 Billion Kw H Electricity In Q1 Of 2014

The Azerbaijani thermal power plant produced about 2.12 billion billion kWh in the first quarter of 2014, Azerenergy JSC (production and distribution of electricity in Azerbaijan) said.



Azerbaijan's TPP is considered the largest thermal power plant in the South Caucasus region and generates most of the electricity produced in the country.



The TPP generated more than 766.7 million kilowatt hours of electricity in March, the report said.



The Azerbaijani TPP generated more than 7.6 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in 2013.



Azerbaijan's power generation capacity has increased by 30 percent in the past five years. Currently, the index hits 7,105 megawatts, which allows generating annually about 24 billion kilowatt hours of electricity. This means that it is possible to annually export 2.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity.
