At least seven people were killed Monday in two barrel bomb attacks staged by Syrian army helicopters in Aleppo, Syria's most populated city, activists said.
Local activist Mustafa Sultan told The Anadolu Agency that the army attacked residential areas in Aleppo's Ma'adi neighborhood controlled by the opposition, killing seven and injuring several others.
He said that the attack has severely damaged numerous buildings and vehicles.
Sultan added that the Assad regime had, these past few days, intensified attacks against opposition-controlled areas in Aleppo, located in northwestern Syria.
Syria is gripped by a civil war between the government and opposition forces since early 2011.
