Bayern Munich's Pep Guardiola In No Rush Over New Contract

With Pep Guardiola's Bayern contract set to expire at the end of next season, rumours are surrounding any possible contract talks. However, Bayern are happy to wait until the summer.

Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola has once again signalled that he and the club are happy to hold off contract talks until the summer.



The Spanish coach's contract with the club is just over halfway through its three-year length and the 44-year old is focusing on more pressing matters than contract talks.



"We still have time to talk about it (the contract extension) after the end of the season in the summer. Football is one way one day and completely different the next day," Guardiola told Bayern fans during visits to fan clubs over the weekend.



Guardiola was visibly hurt after last year's Champions League semi-final loss to Real Madrid and appeared hugely fired up to go one better than the club's double in 2013/14, and win UEFA's elite club competition.



After taking the German powerhouse to a league and cup double in his first season in charge last year, Guardiola has reiterated to Bayern fans that talks over a new contract can wait, for now.



"It was a big challenge for me (to work at Bayern)," Guardiola told fans. "I have had a great time and it was a dream come true to be Bayern coach."



Waiting for Pep



The club's chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has also been under questioning over Guardiola's contract. The Bayern legend has said the club are ready, whenever Pep wants, to sign a contract extension.



"I hope that he stays as long as possible at Bayern," Rummenigge said in an interview with 'Kicker'. "Pep can stay as long as he wants to. He is not a person who seeks security. He does not need a five-year deal to know how much he earns at Bayern."



Rummenigge added that Guardiola's preference was to focus on the upcoming Bundesliga return and the forthcoming restart of the Champions League campaign, rather than entering contract talks.



Bayern Munich went unbeaten in the first half of the Bundesliga season, and are looking to win their third Bundesliga title in a row in this 2014/15 season. As well as progressing to the German Cup Last 16, Bayern will return to the Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk next month in the same phase of the competition.



Guardiola's side return to Bundesliga action on Friday evening when they face Wolfsburg in a clash of the top-two in the Bundesliga.
