Beşiktaş announced that an investigation has been initiated by the disciplinary committee regarding the incidents that occurred during the 1st Ordinary General Assembly Meeting in 2025. Former president Hasan Arat, who was assaulted during a discussion with the Assembly Chairman Tevfik Yamantürk, obtained a medical report and has initiated legal proceedings.
Beşiktaş announced that an investigation has been initiated by the disciplinary board regarding the events that took place during the 1st Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of 2025.
BEŞİKTAŞ'S STATEMENT
In a statement made on the club's website, the following views were expressed;
"An investigation has been initiated by our disciplinary board regarding an incident that is completely incompatible with the culture and values of our club and has deeply saddened every member of our community during the 1st Ordinary Meeting of our General Assembly in 2025. As part of our disciplinary board's investigation, camera footage related to the incident will be thoroughly examined, and developments regarding the actions to be taken in accordance with our regulations against those involved in the incident will be shared with our community and the public through our communication channels."
WHAT HAPPENED?
The 1st Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of Beşiktaş in 2025 is being held at the Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar Congress and Exhibition Center. While former president Hasan Arat was delivering his speech, voices began to rise in the hall. As the noise increased, Arat continued his speech, but the tension escalated further. Arat experienced tension with Tevfik Yamantürk, the President of the Beşiktaş General Assembly, after Yamantürk intervened. It was seen that Yamantürk punched Arat, and then someone from the audience came and punched Hasan Arat. After the chaos, the Ordinary General Assembly Meeting was adjourned. Following the events, Arat received a medical report for the assault and initiated legal proceedings.
