A panel van that did not comply with the "stop" warning in Edirne led police teams on a chase that lasted for kilometers. The escape, which endangered traffic, ended when the vehicle crashed into the median at the Kırklareli junction, and 20 irregular migrants, including 7 children, emerged from the van. The driver and the accompanying suspect were quickly apprehended and taken into custody.
In Edirne, a panel van that did not heed the police's "stop" warning was stopped after a breathtaking chase lasting approximately 8 kilometers, when it crashed at the Kırklareli junction. A total of 20 irregular migrants, including 7 children, of Afghan nationality were caught in the vehicle.
CHASE LASTED 8 KILOMETERS
The minibus with license plate 34 VB 7483, which was heading towards Edirne from Havsa, began to flee without stopping during a police check. In response, the teams from the Edirne Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Unit followed the vehicle. The chase, which lasted about 8 kilometers, ended when the driver crashed into the median while attempting to reverse at the Kırklareli junction.
20 MIGRANTS OF AFGHAN NATIONALITY
After the accident, the driver Y.K. and the passenger M.K. were quickly detained while trying to escape from the vehicle. A check of the minibus revealed that there were 20 irregular migrants of Afghan nationality. The migrants were handed over to the Edirne Provincial Directorate of Migration Management after a health check.
It was learned that legal action was initiated against driver Y.K. and M.K. for the crime of human smuggling.
