H.H., who was denied retirement in Yalova due to not meeting the conditions, shot and killed Zekeriya Polat, a lawyer at the SGK Provincial Directorate, in his office. It was learned that Polat had a 2-year-old child and was serving in a disabled quota. Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan expressed his condolences for Polat, stating, "We will closely monitor the process to ensure that the attacker is held accountable before justice."
A brutal incident occurred at the SGK Provincial Directorate building in Yalova around 11:30 AM. H.H.'s application was rejected by SGK due to not meeting retirement conditions. After losing the case he filed against the institution, H.H. was notified of a 40,000 TL attorney fee as case expenses by the institution. Allegedly, when H.H. received the notification, he came to the Provincial Directorate building to meet with the institution's lawyer, Zekeriya Polat.
KILLED IN HIS OFFICE
A dispute broke out between the parties in the lawyer's office. H.H. opened fire on Lawyer Zekeriya Polat with the gun he had with him. Polat was seriously injured by the bullet that hit his body, while H.H., who left his gun on the ground, surrendered to the police who were called. While the suspect was taken into custody, Zekeriya Polat was treated at the hospital he was taken to by ambulance after the first intervention of the medical teams. Despite all the interventions by the doctors at the hospital where he was taken injured, Polat could not be saved.
An investigation has been launched regarding the incident.

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan expressed his deep sorrow in a statement on his social media account regarding the attack that took place at the SGK Yalova Provincial Directorate, saying, "We are deeply saddened to lose our valuable colleague, our Institution's Lawyer Zekeriya Polat, as a result of a despicable attack. We will closely follow the process to ensure that the attacker is held accountable before justice. I wish God's mercy upon our brother; my condolences to his family and loved ones. May our SGK family rest in peace."
SGK'S STATEMENT: WE CONDEMN THE DESPICABLE ATTACK IN THE STRONGEST TERMS
In a statement made by SGK, the following was stated: "Today, around 11:30 AM, at the Yalova Social Security Provincial Directorate building, an armed attack was carried out against our Institution's Lawyer Zekeriya Polat by an individual who came to the institution citing the rejection of a disability claim and the related judicial process, and unfortunately, our colleague has lost his life.
We strongly condemn this despicable attack against our institution's personnel; we extend our condolences and patience to our colleague's family, loved ones, and the entire SGK community."
