Casualties Reported İn Clashes İn Yemen's Hudaydah

Clashes erupted early Sunday between Shiite Houthi militants and unidentified militants in the western Yemeni province of Al-Hudaydah, leaving unspecific number of people dead or injured, a security source said.



The clashes lasted for hours in Al-Hudaydah city, the provincial capital that bears the province's name, the source told the Anadolu Agency, requesting anonymity.



The violence left several people dead or injured, the source said, noting that the number of casualties is yet to be known determined.



Yemen has been in turmoil since the Houthis overran capital Sanaa in September and have since advanced on other provinces.



Late last month, Saudi Arabia and several other Arab states began an air campaign against Houthi positions across Yemen.



Riyadh says the strikes come in response to appeals by embattled Yemeni President ABD Rabbuh Mansour Hadi for help against the Houthis.



The Houthis, for their part, denounce the offensive as an unwarranted "Saudi-American onslaught" on Yemen.
