Ceremony Held At Anıtkabir On Victory Day

An official ceremony held on Aug. 30, Victory Day which marks the final battle in the Turkish War of Independence in 1922 led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic.The ceremony was held at Anıtkabir, mausoleum of Atatürk in Ankara. During the ceremony, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, Parliament Speaker Cemil Çiçek, Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar, leader of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and other government officials walked on the Lion Road. Erdoğan placed a wreath on mausoleum of Atatürk and a minute of silence was held. Erdoğan later signed the Anitkabir Special Register.
