CHP Deputy Asks If TİB Was Asked To Produce Fake Evidence

21.11.2014 18:28

Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Chairman Sezgin Tanrıkulu on Friday asked in a parliamentary question, which is to be answered by Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, whether the Telecommunications Directorate (TİB) has produced fake evidence by interfering with the computer systems of suspects.Tanrıkulu asked for the number of personnel recruited to TİB -- the body which regulates the telecommunications sector and currently the only agency with the power to carry out legal wiretaps in the country -- in the last nine months as temporary staff and how many of them were appointed as data-security personnel. According to Tanrıkulu, it is alleged that 40 TİB personnel who were working in the body's data department were moved to positions outside of the TİB. Asking about the reasons for sending away the 40 personnel, Tanrıkulu questioned the financial burden of this action to the state.

Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Chairman Sezgin Tanrıkulu on Friday asked in a parliamentary question, which is to be answered by Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, whether the Telecommunications Directorate (TİB) has produced fake evidence by interfering with the computer systems of suspects.

Tanrıkulu asked for the number of personnel recruited to TİB -- the body which regulates the telecommunications sector and currently the only agency with the power to carry out legal wiretaps in the country -- in the last nine months as temporary staff and how many of them were appointed as data-security personnel.

According to Tanrıkulu, it is alleged that 40 TİB personnel who were working in the body's data department were moved to positions outside of the TİB. Asking about the reasons for sending away the 40 personnel, Tanrıkulu questioned the financial burden of this action to the state.

Data experts who were suspended from their job in TİB filed a criminal complaint with the Ankara Public Prosecutor's Office on May 7, and to the Gölbaşı Chief Public Prosecutor on Sept. 18. Tanrıkulu asked whether these complaints were taken into consideration or not.

Tanrıkulu claimed that a team headed by an inspector from the Prime Ministry is putting pressure on the TİB to produce fake evidence. Asking about the identity of that Prime Ministry inspector, Tanrıkulu alleged that this team made changes to documents and the computer systems in TİB.

To find out about the temporary personnel that have been hired to the TİB, Tanrıkulu requested the government check all CCTV camera records, personal entry cards records and logins to systems in TİB.

Tanrıkulu also asked in the parliamentary question for the reason that suspended personnel were not allowed have a copy of the systems or data which they were responsible for.
