CHP Takes Prep School Law To Constitutional Court For Annulment

The main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) filed an appeal with the Constitutional Court to annul a much debated law on closure of prep schools on Friday.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference at Parliament CHP Deputy Parliamentary Group Chair Akif Hamzaçebi said his party took the law, which paves way closure of around 40,000 educational administrators reassigned, to the Constitutional Court.

“Regulations concerning closure of prep schools were prepared against the constitutional court. What should be done is to train students without feeling the need of the courses with a reform in the education system,” said Hamzaçebi highlighting that the real change in education is a change in education system rather than closure of the prep schools.
