Colombian Star's Volley Named Top World Cup Goal

Colombian player James Rodriguez's spectacular volleyed goal against Uruguay in the second round of the World Cup has been voted best of the tournament.



The 23-year-old midfielder controlled the ball with his chest before firing from the edge of the penalty area, sending the ball in off the underside of the crossbar as Uruguay keeper Fernando Muslera vainly tried to claw it away.



A FIFA statement released on Monday named the Netherland's Robin van Persie's long range header against Spain as the second best.
