D-8 Secretary General Mousavi Meets Bangladeshi Pm

Developing-8 (D-8) Secretary General Seyed Ali Mohammad Mousavi met with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh in capital Dhaka on Tuesday.



The D-8 Secretariat issued a statement and said Mousavi paid a visit to the Bangladeshi PM following a meeting of the D-8 civil aviation group in Dhaka.



Established with the aim of bolstering cooperation among member states, the D-8 currently includes Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey. The main objectives of the organization, founded in 1997, are to improve member states in the global economy and offer new opportunities in trade relations.



Mousavi also invited the prime minister to Turkey for the D-8 Summit scheduled for December 2014, which he said would be a milestone for the organization under the chairmanship of Turkey's newly elected President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.



"Bangladesh's engagement with the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation would continue to be more intensive than ever before," the statement "ed the secretary general as saying. 



According to the statement, the secretary general expressed confidence for the process during which Bangladesh will continue to boost ties with D-8 organization and praised the country as a founding member of the organisation.
