Davutoğlu Visits Jose Rizal Monument In Manila

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu who is paying an official visit to Philippines, placed a wreath on the monument that was built in the honor of Jose Rizal, a Philippino poet and writer who struggled for the independence of his country for long years.

Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada accompanied Davutoğlu during his visit to the monument. Jose Rizal is widely considered as one of the greatest heroes of the Philippines.He was the author of Noli Me Tángere, El Filibusterismo, and a number of poems and essays. He was executed on December 30, 1896 by a squad of Filipino soldiers of the Spanish Army.
