In Fatih, the mother, father, grandfather, and grandmother of a 2-month-old baby who died have been arrested. Family members who provided contradictory statements regarding the baby's death have been referred to court on charges of 'intentional homicide.'

Following the death of a 2-month-old baby, who was allegedly not fed for 3 days in Fatih, Istanbul, the mother, father, grandmother, and grandfather who were taken into custody were arrested by the court they were brought before.

HE WEIGHED 2 KILOS AT THE TIME OF DEATH

The incident occurred on December 30, 2025, in Fatih. According to the allegation, the baby of the couple Y.Y. and B.Y., who were married under religious law, was born on November 5 and passed away on December 30. Mother Y.Y. reported the situation to the police and health teams after noticing that her baby was unresponsive.

AMBULANCE WAS CALLED 12 HOURS LATER

Initial examinations revealed that the baby was born at Istanbul Training and Research Hospital on November 5 and was discharged on November 7 weighing 3 kilograms and 200 grams. On the day of death, it was determined that the baby's weight had dropped to approximately 2 kilograms and there was a depression in the abdominal area.

It was learned that the baby died around 08:00, but the ambulance was called 12 hours later.

MOTHER CONFESSED SHE DID NOT FEED FOR 3 DAYS

Due to the contradictory statements of 19-year-old mother Y.Y., it was reported that she said she did not feed the baby for 3 days. As part of the investigation, mother Y.Y., father B.Y., grandmother A.Y., and grandfather Y.E.Y. were taken into custody on charges of "intentional killing."

COURT PROCESS

The 4 suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were referred to the courthouse. After their statements to the prosecutor's office, the mother, father, grandmother, and grandfather were arrested by the court.
