The death toll from two bombings in the Syrian government-held city of Homs has reached 32, with more than 100 people wounded, the country's official news agency SANA reported on Thursday.
The bombings took place near two schools situated in the Akrama neighborhood of the city on Wednesday.
An explosive-laden vehicle exploded in front of New Akrama School and, in the second incident, a suicide bomber blew himself up in front of Akrama al-Makhzoumi School.
Most of the casualties in the bombing attacks were children, said officials, as they occurred at a time when children were leaving their schools.
Hassan al-Jundi, a health official in Homs, said 115 people had been wounded with most of them in a critical condition.
Figures on the death toll have varied; the U.K.-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said fatalities in the twin attacks numbered 45, including 41 children under the age of 12.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011. The U.N. in August said that more than 191,000 people are believed to have been killed in the bitter conflict so far.
