Detained Police Officers Sent To İstanbul Court

Seventeen police officers out of 33, who were detained on Monday allegedly in charge of plotting against the government, were sent to the İstanbul Courthouse on Tuesday following a medical check.

The officers, who conducted an investigation which erupted in December with the detention of businessmen close to Erdoğan and three ministers' sons, are accused of working to overthrow the government, forging official documents and spying. Among the detainees are the former head of the İstanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Unit, Yakup Saygılı; Mahir Çakallı, a former İstanbul deputy police chief in charge of combating narcotics and organized crime; and Kazım Aksoy, a former İstanbul Financial Crimes Unit deputy chief.

Medical check of other officers still continues at Haseki Training and Research Hospital.
