With the changes in the Highway Traffic Regulation, critical safety measures have been implemented for motorcycle and bicycle riders, and drivers who do not wear protective gloves and goggles will face an administrative fine of 993 lira.
The regulation change, which has come into effect by being published in the Official Gazette, aims to increase safety in traffic. According to the new regulation, users of bicycles, electric bicycles, motorcycles, and tractors will now be required to wear protective gloves and glasses.
"OBLIGATION FOR TRACTOR DRIVERS TO WEAR GLASSES"
In a statement made by the Bilecik Provincial Police Department regarding the matter, it was stated, "Motorcycle riders and those traveling in the back seat will also be required to carry and use this equipment. For tractor drivers, there is only an obligation to wear glasses."
"A 993 LIRA ADMINISTRATIVE FINE WILL BE IMPOSED ON DRIVERS"
The obligation to wear helmets continues for all motorcycle passengers. The regulation not only introduces equipment requirements but also foresees innovations in keeping driver and vehicle records. Accordingly, the General Directorate of Security will be able to share driver and vehicle information electronically with public institutions, professional organizations, and authorized private legal entities. Drivers who do not comply with the new rules will be subject to an administrative fine of 993 lira," it was stated.
