The German-based global giant Haribo has found traces of drugs in some of its products launched in the Netherlands. The company has decided to recall the products.

Many people, including members of a family in the Netherlands, reported that they did not feel well after eating Haribo.

A spokesperson for the Dutch food safety authority (NVWA) stated that there were individuals who went to the hospital complaining of 'dizziness' after consuming the product, and tests conducted afterward revealed traces of drugs in the candies. NVWA officials reported that traces of drugs have been found in three different packages so far.

PRODUCTS RECALLED

Haribo management decided to withdraw all of its products from the market in the Netherlands, considering the potential risks.

NUMBER OF AFFECTED INDIVIDUALS UNKNOWN

While it was reported that the recommended consumption date for the packages in question is January 2026, it remains unclear how many people have experienced issues. NVWA announced that the police are investigating how marijuana got mixed into the candies.

On the other hand, it has not yet been confirmed whether the packages containing marijuana are genuine Haribo or counterfeit.
