Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek answered questions regarding the transfer of Lionel Messi, who is associated with Galatasaray. Özbek spoke about Galatasaray's transfer policy, stating, "We have raised the level of success to a high standard, which is why you can comfortably ask about Messi. While doing this, we have also achieved a good financial situation. We are not engaging in any activities that would jeopardize this."
Galatasaray, which is currently leading the Süper Lig, had President Dursun Özbek make statements at the Bosphorus Sports Summit.
'IT SHOWED THAT IT IS A PIONEER TEAM' Dursun Özbek stated that the projects carried out by Galatasaray are pioneering, saying, "The projects we put forward in 2016 began to take shape in 2022. In this sense, Galatasaray showed that it is a pioneer team. At that time, we received criticisms from other communities like 'It became a real estate company,' but at the point we have reached today, our competitors want to enter a sustainable field by developing similar projects in the way we have presented."
DURSUN ÖZBEK'S RESPONSE TO MESSI In response to the question, "Will we ever see Messi in a Galatasaray jersey?" Dursun Özbek said, "What did you say about Messi? Can you say that again? The point where Galatasaray has been most successful is the transfers it has made. We didn't make many transfers, but we made them in the areas we needed, preserving the team. We preserved the core of a team that has been champion for three consecutive years, especially the entire team. I believe we have built a successful team through transfers."
Continuing his remarks, Dursun Özbek stated, "We have raised the bar very high. We made the highest transfer in Turkish football history. Galatasaray's economic level is suitable for these transfers. We have raised the level of success to a high level, which is why you can comfortably ask the Messi question. While doing these, we also achieved a good financial situation. We are not engaging in any activities that would disrupt this. All the work we do must remain within our financial capacity. That’s why we built a good team. Hopefully, we also have goals in Europe. We will do what is necessary to achieve these goals."
