Egypt Warships, Warplanes Arrive İn Bahrain For Joint Drill

Egyptian warships and fighter jets arrived in Bahrain on Tuesday to participate in a joint military drill with the Bahraini armed forces, according to Bahrain's official press agency (BNA).



"A number of warships and fighter jets from the Egyptian Armed Forces have arrived in Bahrain, where they will participate in the 'Hamad 1' joint exercise," BNA reported.



"The joint drill aims to consolidate the deep-rooted relations binding the two countries and their peoples," BNA said.



"It also aims to strengthen relations with brotherly Arab countries, which will enhance joint Arab action," the news agency added.



The dates on which the planned war-games will take place have not been revealed.



The drills come as Egypt, Bahrain and other Arab states take part in a Saudi-led air campaign against Yemen's Shiite Houthi group.



Riyadh says the campaign is in response to appeals by Yemen's embattled president, ABD Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, for help against the Shiite group.



Earlier this month, Egypt and Saudi Arabia agreed to form a joint military committee to mull implementation of a military exercise in Saudi Arabia with the participation of several Gulf States.
