Egyptian Police Recruit Shot Dead By Militants

One Egyptian police recruit was killed and two others were injured on Saturday as unknown militants opened fire at their police vehicle in the northern Fayoum province, state-run Ahram news website reported. The dead recruit was driving the police vehicle carrying four policemen when the assailants opened fire. The police is currently combing the area in their pursuit of the militants. Hundreds of police and military men have been killed in similar attacks nationwide since the ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in 2013, followed by the massive security crackdown on his supporters that left at least 1,000 killed and thousands more arrested.
