Griffiths, who is battling advanced Alzheimer's and pancreatic cancer, visited the team he has supported throughout his life as his last wish. During the meeting at the Hull City training facilities, Acun Ilıcalı welcomed Owen and personally attended to him. The team's players and head coach Sergej Jakirovic also showed great care for Griffiths and his daughter Sophie.
Emotional moments were experienced during the meeting, and the fan's daughter Sophie said, "I will never forget this day for the rest of my life. My dad will probably forget everything when we get home. That's why I will read him this story every day."
