Sunderland's winger Adam Johnson, who was arrested Monday for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a minor, has been released on bond Tuesday.
Police said Johnson is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl.
Sunderland said that Johnson will be out of squad until the investigation is complete.
Johnson, 27, had formerly played for Manchester City from 2010 to 2012. This season he scored four goals in 24 league matches with Sunderland.
Sunderland will take on Hull City in an away match in the premier league on Tuesday.
