Speaking about the AK Party's vote rates, President Erdoğan said, "We achieved vote rates reaching 50% in the elections by primarily engaging with households through women. If our votes are not at the desired levels today, it means we are not reaching women as we would like." On the other hand, Erdoğan also criticized Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is on the agenda as a candidate, without naming him.
President Erdoğan spoke at the 7th Ordinary Congress of the Women's Branch of his party in Istanbul. Making striking statements regarding the elections, Erdoğan also criticized the AK Party based on its vote rates.
President Erdoğan said, "As the AK Party, we have achieved vote rates reaching 50% by primarily engaging with households through women." He continued his remarks as follows: "If our votes are not at the desired levels today, it means we cannot reach women as we wish, and we cannot conquer households. Because this conquest can only be achieved by our women. Women can carry our party to the place it deserves."
LOCAL ELECTION CRITICISM
We want to reach a 50% vote rate again in 2028. Everything in politics has a bit of an effect, but the biggest factor is hard work. Don't be fooled by the opposition's expectation of power with the mentality of 'waiting for the pear to fall into my mouth' without working. With this mindset, they will wait for 22 years or even 222 years. As long as they do not find the opportunity to think about the country's issues while squabbling among themselves, they will only play at being in power like a 23 April show. We have come to these days by working hard and keeping the struggle alive on every ground. Tomorrow, we must present ourselves to our nation with the same dynamism. Otherwise, our nation will not forgive us for condemning ourselves to these opportunists as we did in the last local elections. We believe in and trust the women who do not leave us halfway. I believe that Istanbul will set an example for our other provinces, just as it does in every field," he stated.
DID HE IMPLY İMAMOĞLU?
Erdoğan also criticized Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is on the agenda as a presidential candidate, without naming him. Erdoğan said, "We will protect the women of Turkey against the centers of evil. The sworn enemies of Turkey, from all over the world, are their biggest supporters. Their aim is to overthrow us. The opposition and the identity-less groups they walk with cannot get the support they expect from the nation for their petty calculations. They keep lowering the level each time. When they cannot measure up to us, they started to attack and insult public officials and the nation itself. They have turned institutions into materials for their shows. They are now struggling to hide their ambitions. They are so detached from reality that they will portray foot games as if they are a matter of Turkey. It is unclear whether we are facing a main opposition or a circus tent. Their party leader is wandering around with a red card. The former party leader is trying to enter the game by showing him a yellow card. The problem is that they do not know what a red card or a yellow card is for. Mayors who are constantly losing altitude in terms of municipal services are chasing an unknown candidacy when there is no egg or fol. Decay has become apparent, but if you ask them, they claim to be making effective opposition.
"NOW IS THE TIME TO SHIFT UP"
We are among those who know very well when the elections will be held. We will not hesitate to make our own self-criticism when necessary. The important thing is not to stumble but to continue on our path strongly. We have passed the first stage; now is the time to shift up," he said.
