A list of European commissioners has been released after members of the European Parliament voted in favor of a new European Commission under the leadership of Jean-Claude Juncker.
The Commission, the European Union's executive body responsible for proposing legislations and implementing decisions, will take office on November 1.
Former Italian foreign minister Federica Mogherini will succeed Catherine Ashton as the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission.
Mogherini's duties will include steering, coordinating and guiding commissioners in their work for European neighborhood policy, enlargement negotiations, trade, international negotiations and development.
Former Dutch Foreign Minister Frans Timmerman is set to become the new vice-president of the EU Commission.
Timmerman will be in charge of bringing together commissioners in their areas of responsibility and to shape coherent policies.
Other vice presidents of the Commission include Bulgarian economist Kristalina Georgieva, who will be in charge of budget and human resources; Andrus Ansip, in charge of the digital single market; Slovak diplomat Maroš Šefčovič, in charge of the energy union; Valdis Dombrovskis in charge of the euro and social dialogue, and Yyrki Katainen, in charge of jobs, growth and investment.
