A total of five workers were wounded on Tuesday in an explosion at construction site of Silvan Dam in the southeastern city of Diyarbakır.
According to the Doğan news agency, the explosion took place around 10:15 a.m. at Silvan Dam's water transmission tunnel, which is currently under construction. Diyarbakır Governor Hüseyin Aksoy said the explosion at the water transmission tunnel took place due to gas being trapped, according to initial findings.
Five workers of the 30 working at the construction site sustained injuries. A large number of ambulances and rescue teams were dispatched to the area. The injured workers were taken to Silvan State Hospital.
The Cihan news agency reported that an investigation has been launched into the incident.
